Cookie Policy
Last updated: 31 July 2026
This page explains the cookies and similar storage this website uses, what each one does, and how to control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. We also use two related browser technologies — local storage and session storage — which work in much the same way. Where this page says “cookie”, it covers all three unless we say otherwise.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These make the site work. They cannot be switched off, and we do not ask consent for them because the site cannot function without them.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
alproads_prefill |
Session storage | Carries the route and date you entered in the quick-quote box across to the full booking form, so you do not type it twice. | When you close the tab |
alproads_booking_complete, alproads_booking_details |
Session storage | Passes your completed booking to the confirmation page. | When you close the tab |
alproads_chat_token |
Local storage | Identifies your live-chat conversation so the thread survives a page reload. | Until you clear your browser storage |
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* |
Cookie | Set by WordPress only for logged-in site administrators. Visitors and customers never receive these. | Up to 1 year |
__cf_bm and similar |
Cookie | Set by our content delivery network to distinguish real visitors from automated traffic. | Up to 30 minutes |
Analytics and marketing
These are set only if you consent. Decline, and they are never written. Your booking works exactly the same either way — the only thing we lose is the ability to see which campaigns brought customers to us.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
alproads_attrib |
Cookie (first-party) | Records how you first arrived — the Google click identifier and any campaign tags in the link you followed — so we can tell which advertising produced a booking. It records the first visit only and is never overwritten. | 90 days |
_ga, _ga_* |
Cookie (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes visitors and sessions so we can see, in aggregate, how the site is used. | Up to 2 years |
Third-party services on this site
Some features load from other companies, and those companies may receive your IP address in order to serve the content:
- Google Maps and Places — powers the address search on the booking form and calculates distance and travel time.
- Our content delivery network — serves the site and filters malicious traffic.
- Google Analytics — measurement, loaded only with your consent.
How to control cookies
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link on this site. Withdrawing consent stops any further analytics or marketing cookies being set; cookies already on your device stay until they expire or you delete them.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser. Blocking strictly necessary cookies and storage will break the booking form, because it will no longer be able to carry your journey details from one step to the next.
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove a cookie we will update the tables above and change the date at the top of this page.
